Buyers in KP cattle markets face challenges due to inadequate facilities, high prices, and poor sanitation. Inter-provincial traders seek profits, emphasizing the importance of regulating prices and ensuring health measures for a successful Eidul Azha celebration.

As Eidul Azha draws near, buyers of sacrificial animals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are encountering challenges at cattle markets. The inadequate provision of shelters, tents, and water facilities is causing dissatisfaction among buyers in Peshawar, Charsadda, and Nowshera districts.

Buyers like Qaiser Khan from Wapda Town Nowshera had to abandon the Ring Road cattle market in Peshawar due to the intense heat and the lack of essential amenities such as shelter, water, and washrooms. Municipal administrations and contractors are being criticized for neglecting to provide these necessary facilities, resulting in incidents like heat strokes among buyers' family members.

At the Pabbi cattle market, Sajid Ali expressed frustration over high prices and poor sanitation. The absence of cold water and proper shelter has made the buying process challenging for many, including government officials and pensioners visiting various cattle markets in Peshawar and Nowshera districts.

Inter-provincial traders from Sindh and Balochistan are also participating in these markets, seeking higher profits by bringing their livestock to KP. Sohail Sardar, an inter-provincial cattle dealer, highlighted the significant transportation of cattle from other provinces to KP due to favorable market conditions.

Dr. Aftab Ahmad from the Livestock and Dairy Development department emphasized the necessity of importing cattle from Punjab to meet the demand in KP. He stressed the importance of regulating animal prices and ensuring health and safety measures during Eidul Azha. Despite the challenges, both buyers and officials are anticipating a busy Eidul Azha with substantial livestock transactions in KP.

As preparations for Eidul Azha continue, it is crucial for authorities to address the issues faced by buyers in KP cattle markets. Providing adequate shelters, water facilities, and sanitation will not only enhance the buying experience but also ensure the well-being of all involved. By implementing proper regulations and measures, KP can facilitate a successful and safe Eidul Azha celebration for its residents.
