Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique announces modernization efforts in cattle markets, including online purchases and enhanced security measures to improve trading experience.

The Punjab Local Government Minister, Zeeshan Rafique, has announced the establishment of 20 model cattle markets in various cities, including those along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route. This initiative aims to provide better facilities for traders and buyers as the demand for cattle increases in preparation for Eid-ul-Azha.

Minister Rafique highlighted the success of the Cattle Market Management Company in auctioning cattle markets worth Rs 10 billion this year, with potential for further growth. The introduction of the e-cattle market project by the Punjab government, which allows for online purchases with a payment on delivery option, was also emphasized.

Furthermore, the launch of the 1233 helpline for online shopping inquiries and the absence of lumpy skin disease cases in Punjab markets this year were commended by the Minister. He stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and providing cool water in cattle markets during hot weather, while also promising to take strict action against illegal markets and address overcharging complaints promptly.

Under government supervision, the use of drones and CCTV cameras in monitoring cattle markets has significantly reduced theft and vandalism incidents. Minister Rafique instructed officials to explore the utilization of animal excreta from cattle markets and integrate the Green Waste program with the Suthra Punjab initiative to improve sanitation facilities.

During a visit to the Punjab Cattle Market Management and Development Company, PCMMDC Chief Executive Officer Taseer Ahmed provided a detailed overview of the company's operations to the Minister.

The Punjab government's efforts to enhance cattle markets and ensure a smooth buying and selling process ahead of Eid-ul-Azha demonstrate a commitment to improving the agricultural sector. By implementing modern technologies and emphasizing cleanliness and customer service, the government aims to create a more efficient and sustainable market environment for traders and buyers alike.
