Efficient disposal of hazardous waste from hospitals is a critical concern for the government in Balochistan. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has directed the launch of a comprehensive campaign to address this issue.

Currently, only half of the solid waste disposal units in hospitals are operational, with fines imposed on nine hospitals for non-compliance. Notices have been issued to 48 others, and legal action is being taken against three hospitals by the Environmental Protection Tribunal Balochistan.

In Quetta, the capital city, there are a total of 93 hospitals, both public and private. It is imperative for all hospitals to follow waste management protocols, including the use of incinerators and regular monitoring to ensure cleanliness. Inspections of waste disposal sites and strict oversight of waste transportation are crucial for maintaining a healthy environment.

The government emphasizes the importance of district officers and personnel fulfilling their duties to oversee waste management effectively. Any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated, as protecting human lives through proper waste disposal is a top priority.

The government's proactive measures to regulate hospital waste disposal in Balochistan are crucial for public health and environmental sustainability. By enforcing strict guidelines and holding institutions accountable, a cleaner and safer environment can be ensured for all residents.
