The recently presented budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 in Balochistan has set the stage for significant financial allocations and reforms. With a total outlay of Rs930 billion and a surplus of Rs25 billion, the budget aims to address key sectors crucial for the province's development.

Allocations have been strategically planned, with Rs321 billion earmarked for developmental expenses. Of this, Rs146.9 billion is dedicated to enhancing the education sector, while Rs20 billion is allocated for improving healthcare services. The agriculture sector receives over Rs23.8 billion, and over Rs1 billion is set aside for food security initiatives.

Noteworthy increases in salaries for government employees have been announced, with a 25% raise for Grade 1 to 16 employees and a 22% raise for Grade 17 to 22 employees. Pensioners will also see a 15% increase in their pensions, reflecting the government's commitment to supporting its workforce.

The budget proposal, approved by the Balochistan cabinet, underscores a focus on health and education sectors. Development projects spanning agriculture, livestock, minerals, and mines are integral components of the upcoming budget, signaling a comprehensive approach to economic growth.

In a bid to enhance financial sustainability, a new pension contribution scheme is set to be implemented in the upcoming financial year. The budget also paves the way for the creation of around 3000 new job opportunities, with a significant portion of approved projects geared towards development initiatives.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has emphasized the swift commencement of development projects from the outset of the new financial year. He has mandated active monitoring by provincial ministers and assembly members to ensure project progress. Bugti's directive to withhold funds from delayed projects underscores the government's commitment to timely project completion.

The unveiling of Balochistan's budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 heralds a new chapter in the province's development trajectory. With a strong emphasis on key sectors, salary increases, job creation, and stringent project monitoring mechanisms, the budget sets a robust foundation for sustainable growth and progress in Balochistan.
