The Sindh Local Government Minister directs the SSWMB to update waste disposal plans for EidulAzha and the monsoon season to ensure cleanliness and public health standards.

The Sindh Local Government Minister has directed the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) to update its waste disposal plan for EidulAzha within 24 hours. This decision was made during a meeting to ensure cleanliness during the upcoming monsoon season and EidulAzha festivities. The Minister stressed the importance of collaboration among officials to maintain cleanliness in areas lacking waste disposal services provided by the SSWMB.

During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the significance of maintaining sanitary conditions during EidulAzha and preparing for the monsoon season to safeguard public health and environmental hygiene. He highlighted the need to avoid any negligence in the disposal of animal and municipal waste during the festival. The SSWMB was instructed to customize waste disposal plans for different regions based on their specific requirements.

The Minister also tasked the SSWMB Managing Director to devise a comprehensive waste disposal plan for Karachi in consultation with district administration and town chairmen. Additionally, commissioners were urged to work with local representatives to finalize waste disposal arrangements for EidulAzha and the upcoming monsoon season in various districts.

All municipal staff leaves were canceled for EidulAzha, with employees assigned to emergency field duties during monsoon rains. The Minister highlighted the importance of proper garbage disposal points, transportation of animal waste, and fumigation campaigns to ensure cleanliness. Continuous waste disposal operations and availability of vehicles for animal waste disposal at the union council level were also emphasized.

Stringent measures were outlined to prevent makeshift garbage dumping near sensitive areas like airfields and hospitals. Specific timings for waste disposal services were to be established at temporary collection points to minimize inconvenience to residents. Police presence at all dumping and collection points during EidulAzha, along with the enforcement of Section 144 of CRPC for one week, was requested to maintain cleanliness.

The SSWMB had finalized arrangements to manage substantial amounts of animal and municipal waste from Karachi during EidulAzha. Meetings were scheduled with officials and elected representatives to revise the waste disposal plan as per the Minister's directives. Mayors, commissioners, and deputy commissioners from various parts of Sindh participated in the meeting through video conferencing.

The directives issued by the Sindh Local Government Minister underscore the government's commitment to ensuring a clean and hygienic environment during EidulAzha and the upcoming monsoon season. By prioritizing waste disposal planning and coordination among officials, the authorities aim to uphold public health standards and environmental cleanliness across different regions of Sindh.
