Authorities in Dera Ghazi Khan division are actively reclaiming over 30,000 acres of forest land from illegal occupants, with a significant portion already recovered. Commissioner Dr Nasir Mahmood Bashir has raised concerns over the exploitation of state-owned land, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to address this issue.

As part of the ongoing operation, 270 acres have been successfully retrieved, while efforts continue to reclaim the remaining land. A total of 30,867 acres were found to be under illegal occupation, with a substantial portion being used for unauthorized crop cultivation. Additionally, 4,624 acres were encroached upon, highlighting the extent of the problem.

During a recent meeting, Secretary Forests South Punjab Sarfraz Khan Magsi was in attendance, underscoring the importance of collaborative action to combat land grabbing. Commissioner Bashir issued a stern warning to officials who fail to report instances of illegal land occupation, emphasizing the accountability of all stakeholders.

In a firm stance against those involved in usurping state resources, Commissioner Bashir reiterated that individuals found guilty of such activities will face legal consequences, including imprisonment. The concerted efforts to reclaim the forest land signify a crucial step towards preserving natural resources and upholding the rule of law.
