FAPUASA, led by Dr. Amjad Abbas Magsi, protests budget cuts affecting Pakistani universities, emphasizing the need for adequate funding to secure a brighter future for all.

On June 4, 2024, the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) organized a protest rally in Lahore to oppose the reduction in the higher education budget. Led by the Joint Action Committee of Punjab University, teachers and non-teaching staff members marched peacefully from the university's main gate back to the campus.

Dr. Amjad Abbas Magsi, Central President of FAPUASA Pakistan, expressed concern over the impact of the budget cut on teachers, non-teaching staff, and students in Pakistani universities. The uncertainty following the 40 billion budget reduction has raised fears about the future of universities.

Dr. Magsi directed a message to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, highlighting the challenges faced by women teachers protesting for their rights in the hot June weather. Plans for nationwide protests outside press clubs on June 5, 2024, were announced to continue the demonstrations until the higher education budget issue is resolved.

The struggle is not just for the current generation but also for future students who may lose access to higher education due to escalating fees. The protest aims to bring attention to the critical need for adequate funding in higher education to ensure a brighter future for all.
