Farmers in Multan, led by Chaudhary Haseeb Anwar, are facing challenges due to low wheat prices. They demand government support to combat exploitation by middlemen and advocate for fair pricing policies.
Farmers in Multan are facing challenges due to the low prices of wheat in the open market, prompting them to call on the government for support. The farmers are concerned about being exploited by middlemen and are urging authorities to ensure that wheat is purchased at the recommended rates to protect their interests.
Chaudhary Haseeb Anwar, the Central Chairman of Pakistan Kissan Ittehad, highlighted the plight of farmers during a press conference in Multan. He emphasized that farmers are struggling as the prices of agricultural inputs remain high while the selling prices for their produce are inadequate. Middlemen are offering prices as low as Rs 3100 to 3200 per 40 kg, which do not cover the farmers' expenses.
In response to the situation, Chaudhary Haseeb Anwar announced plans for a sit-in protest in Lahore if the farmers' demands are not addressed promptly. The protest aims to draw attention to the challenges faced by farmers and to advocate for fair pricing policies that safeguard the interests of agricultural workers.
