The Economic Coordination Committee approves Technical Supplementary Grants and supports fertilizer production to enhance national security, technological capabilities, and agricultural sustainability in Pakistan.

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, recently approved Technical Supplementary Grants (TSGs) totaling Rs 4.272 billion for various divisions and ministries in Pakistan. These grants are crucial for funding important projects and ensuring the smooth operation of key government functions.

Among the approved grants are Rs. 2.363 million for troops costs/subsistence allowance for the Ministry of Interior, Rs. 200 million for the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Division, Rs. 19.373 million for the Ministry of Law & Justice, and a significant Rs 4.050 billion for the Strategic Plans Division/SUPARCO for the 'Pakistan Multi-Mission Communication Satellite System' project. These allocations highlight the government's commitment to enhancing national security and advancing technological capabilities.

In another significant decision, the ECC approved a proposal from the Ministry of Industries & Production to allow SNGPL-based plants to operate from March 31, 2024, to September 20, 2024. This move is aimed at ensuring a steady supply of urea fertilizer for the upcoming Kharif season, which is crucial for agricultural productivity in the country.

The committee meeting was attended by a range of key officials, including the Minister for Commerce, Minister for Power, Minister for Petroleum, Minister for Industries & Production, Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of State for Finance & Revenue, Governor SBP, Chairman SECP, Federal Secretaries, and other senior officials from relevant ministries. This collaborative effort underscores the government's dedication to effective decision-making and strategic planning for the nation's development.

The approval of Technical Supplementary Grants and the decision to support fertilizer production reflect the government's proactive approach to addressing critical needs and promoting growth across various sectors. These initiatives demonstrate a commitment to enhancing national security, technological innovation, and agricultural sustainability, ultimately contributing to the overall progress and welfare of the country.
