A health screening camp at District Jail Shah Purr in Sargodha, led by prominent figures, aims to prioritize inmate health through comprehensive physical exams and screenings for over 2700 inmates until June 1, 2024.
A screening camp has been established at District Jail Shah Purr in Sargodha to conduct comprehensive physical examinations of the inmates. The camp's inauguration was graced by the presence of notable figures including Member Provincial Assembly Punjab ASIM Shair Maken, Chairman District Coordination Committee, and Deputy Inspector General Prisons Sargodha Saeed Ullah Gondal. Also in attendance were Chief Executive Officer Health Dr. Asad Aslam, CEO District Health Authority Sargodha Khan Waheed Khan, and Superintendent Shah Purr Jail.
The initiative, in line with the directives of Chief Minister of Punjab Marriam Nawaz Shareef, aims to prioritize the health and well-being of the inmates. The Primary & Secondary Health Care Department will oversee a thorough screening process for prisoners until June 1, 2024. This screening will encompass tests for hepatitis B and C, HIV/AIDS, diabetes, and tuberculosis for over 2700 inmates. The camp is fully equipped to provide essential physical tests and boasts a dedicated team of more than 30 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nutritionists, supervisors, dispensers, technicians, and data entry operators.
This proactive approach towards inmate healthcare underscores the government's commitment to ensuring the welfare of all individuals, including those within correctional facilities. By conducting these screenings, authorities aim to identify and address any health issues promptly, thereby safeguarding the overall health of the inmate population.
