Sindh IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon leads efforts to improve medical services for police personnel and families, focusing on upgrading facilities and procurement protocols.

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon recently spearheaded a crucial meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi to address the enhancement of medical services at police hospitals and dispensaries. The session, attended by high-ranking officials and medical personnel, focused on upgrading healthcare provisions for police personnel and their families.

During the meeting, a comprehensive overview of the existing medical facilities was presented, highlighting the significant patient load handled by the Police Hospitals in Karachi and Hyderabad. With the Karachi hospital attending to approximately 1,000 patients daily and the Hyderabad facility catering to around 250 patients per day, IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon emphasized the necessity for these institutions to excel in outpatient services, equipped with proficient medical staff, ample medication supplies, and diagnostic capabilities.

To drive this initiative forward, the IGP mandated the establishment of a committee comprising medical department officers to revamp outpatient services and collaborate with private medical entities for service enhancement proposals. Emphasizing the importance of skilled medical professionals and adequate diagnostic resources, he called for a significant improvement in services at district-level police dispensaries.

Furthermore, Ghulam Nabi Memon directed the adoption of procurement and supply protocols akin to esteemed medical institutions like the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) and Indus Hospital for police hospitals and dispensaries. This strategic move aims to streamline the availability of medicines and ensure a consistent supply of medical essentials.

The meeting concluded with a resolute commitment to elevate the standard of medical care for police personnel and their families. This proactive approach signifies a concerted effort to enhance healthcare practices within the police medical infrastructure, ultimately benefiting the well-being of those serving in law enforcement.
