The Islamabad High Court orders a re-examination of Parvez Elahi's health in jail, emphasizing proper care for inmates and judicial commitment to well-being.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has taken a significant step by ordering the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) medical board to conduct a re-examination of former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi's health at the Adiala Central Jail. This decision came after a petition was heard by IHC Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, requesting that Elahi not be transferred from the Adiala Jail.

Justice Tahir instructed the Pims medical board to visit Elahi in the jail on Saturday to assess his health condition and determine whether he should remain in jail or be moved to a hospital. Additionally, the court has requested a report on the facilities provided to Elahi in the jail, emphasizing the importance of proper care for the inmate.

Furthermore, the court has directed the jail superintendent to submit a detailed report on the treatment being administered to Elahi within the jail premises. The hearing has been adjourned until Monday, indicating the seriousness with which the court is approaching this matter.

This development underscores the judiciary's commitment to ensuring the well-being of individuals in custody and highlights the importance of proper medical care for all inmates, regardless of their status. The outcome of the medical examination and subsequent reports will likely play a crucial role in determining the course of action regarding Parvez Elahi's health and confinement.
