Interior Minister Naqvi Issues Strict Directives for Islamabad Security

Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has issued strict directives to the new Islamabad Inspector General of Police to enhance the law and order situation in the federal capital. In a recent high-level meeting, Naqvi emphasized the need for a robust crackdown on criminal activities, particularly targeting drug gangs using modern technology to dismantle the drug mafia.

Naqvi highlighted the detrimental impact of drug peddlers on the future of Pakistan and stressed the importance of stringent surveillance outside educational institutions to curb the sale of intoxicants, including ice. The Interior Minister also instructed the police to ensure the security of foreign nationals residing in Islamabad by establishing a dedicated protection force.

Furthermore, Naqvi called for decisive action against the beggar mafia and professional beggars operating in the city. He mandated a 100% registration of First Information Reports (FIRs) on citizen complaints, warning of severe consequences for officers causing delays or denying FIR registration.

Additionally, Naqvi urged the prompt processing of promotion cases within the capital Police to boost morale within the force. He pledged to align the salaries of Islamabad Police with those of the Punjab Police and emphasized fair recruitment practices to fill all vacant positions.

The Minister also requested a comprehensive plan to address traffic congestion in Islamabad, aiming to equip the Islamabad Safe City system with modern features akin to the Lahore Safe City project. Naqvi expressed the government's commitment to enhancing the conditions of police stations in Islamabad, promising tangible improvements in the coming months.
