JI Karachi Leader Addresses Water and Power Crises

The Traffic Police in Karachi recently implemented a unique strategy to manage traffic flow during a protest organized by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to raise awareness about the water and electricity problems in the city. The demonstration on Shahrah e Faisal highlighted the daily challenges faced by Karachi residents due to water scarcity and frequent power outages.

To ensure smooth traffic movement during the protest, specific diversions were set up. Vehicles heading towards the airport were redirected at Drigh Road to Rashid Minhas Road, while those bound for Karsaz Flyover were rerouted to Stadium Road. Movement from Stadium to Karsaz was strictly restricted, with alternative routes suggested for commuters.

Despite certain areas being cordoned off, the road from Avari Signal on Shahrah-e-Faisal to the airport remained open for both incoming and outgoing traffic. Senator Munem Zafar, the JI Karachi leader, voiced concerns about the water and power crises in the city, emphasizing the inadequate access to clean water and the extensive load shedding endured by Karachiites, particularly during hot weather.

Zafar pointed out that part of the city's deterioration is due to corrupt individuals backed by political factions. He highlighted the shortfall in water supply, with Karachi receiving only half of the required 1,300 million gallons per day. Zafar criticized the delayed K4 water project, citing political interference and corruption as significant hurdles.

Additionally, Zafar raised issues regarding the budget allocation for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), stating that there are insufficient funds for development projects. He encouraged the public to adjust to the new traffic routes during the protest, stressing the importance of patience for a smoother journey.

The Traffic Police's strategic measures during the JI protest shed light on the pressing water and electricity issues in Karachi. The event not only highlighted the challenges faced by residents but also underscored the need for effective governance and infrastructure development to address these critical concerns.
