Kashmiri poet Ahmed Farhad found safe after legal pursuit

Following a recent court hearing at the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the family of Kashmiri poet Ahmed Farhad has successfully located him at a police station in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan revealed to the IHC that Farhad had been detained and was currently under police custody in AJK.

The journey to find Farhad began when his wife, Urooj Zainab, filed a petition at the IHC on May 15, pleading for her husband's safe return and urging the court to investigate and hold accountable those responsible for his sudden disappearance. After a series of legal proceedings, the family was finally able to reunite with Farhad at the Kahori police station near Muzaffarabad.

Post-meeting, Farhad's brother shared that Farhad was in a stable condition, and they were ready to take legal action in AJK. This positive turn of events came after the family expressed concerns about the lack of cooperation from AJK police in disclosing Farhad's whereabouts.

A well-known poet recognized for his courageous writings, Farhad was reportedly taken from his residence on May 14. Thanks to the relentless efforts and legal actions taken by his family, Farhad's location has been revealed, and his safety has been confirmed.
