KWSC and World Bank Launch Daycare Center for Female Empowerment

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has collaborated with the World Bank to inaugurate a daycare center at its central head office, dedicated to former Managing Director Fareeda Salam. This initiative is part of KWSC's Gender Action Plan, with a primary focus on empowering female employees and promoting their active participation within the organization.

The opening ceremony, led by KWSC CEO Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, was attended by key figures such as KWSC COO Engineer Asadullah Khan, Deputy Managing Director Muhammad Saqib, and representatives from the World Bank including TTL Tiziana Smith and Gender Specialist MahRukh.

The establishment of the daycare center aims to bridge the gender gap and enhance women's skills in various sectors. Selected female employees will undergo training in women empowerment, IT, and leadership, with the opportunity for further development as lead trainers. KWSC has also designated specific areas for women within the office premises, including separate washrooms, daycare facilities, and a prayer room.

CEO Ahmed highlighted the significance of such initiatives in empowering women and fortifying the corporation. The event featured a documentary showcasing the training programs at KWSC, emphasizing the commitment of the organization towards gender equality and female empowerment.
