Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has introduced the Benazir Hari Card initiative, aimed at assisting farmers in conducting banking transactions and accessing subsidies conveniently through ATMs. This initiative is part of efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency in agricultural programs.

CM Murad Ali Shah, in a recent meeting with the agriculture department, stressed the significance of backing farmers and promoting agricultural growth in line with Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's directives. The Benazir Hari Card is designed to benefit all agricultural landholders, regardless of the size of their land holdings.

The Sindh Cabinet sub-Committee on Hari Card, under the leadership of the Minister of Agriculture, presented detailed recommendations on April 2, 2024. Eligible farmers, verified through valid Form –VII documents from the revenue department, will initially receive the card as part of the Wheat Seed Cash Reimbursement Program.

To ensure smooth implementation, the Agriculture Department will collaborate with top technology firms to develop necessary software and apps through the Sindh Water Agriculture Transformation Project (SWAT), in partnership with the World Bank. A robust system will define specific roles and responsibilities for stakeholders, including the Revenue and Agriculture Departments, Banks, and beneficiaries.

The Benazir Hari Card will provide various features, enabling farmers to make deposits, withdrawals, check balances, transfer funds, and access subsidies through ATMs. This comprehensive system aims to empower farmers in effectively managing their finances and utilizing government schemes for their benefit.

The introduction of the Benazir Hari Card initiative in Sindh marks a significant step towards supporting farmers and promoting agricultural development in the region. By leveraging technology and collaboration with key stakeholders, this program is set to streamline processes and enhance financial access for farmers, ultimately contributing to the growth of the agricultural sector.
