The Director General of NAB and the Vice Chancellor of University of Peshawar discuss the crucial role of academia in combating corruption, emphasizing research, moral values, and unity in eliminating corruption while exploring mineral resources for employment opportunities.

The Director General of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ghazi Rehman, recently met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peshawar, Professor Dr Muhammad Jehanzaib Khan, to discuss the crucial role of academia in combating corruption. Rehman stressed the significance of conducting high-quality research and instilling strong moral values in students to effectively address the issue of corruption, which hinders societal progress and development.

During the meeting, Rehman highlighted the negative impact of corruption on principles of meritocracy and emphasized the need for a united effort to eliminate this pervasive issue. He also clarified misconceptions about plea bargains, explaining their role in swiftly recovering stolen funds in accordance with NAB regulations.

Furthermore, Rehman encouraged universities to explore the potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's mineral resources for creating employment opportunities. Vice Chancellor Jehanzaib Khan expressed full support for NAB's anti-corruption initiatives, emphasizing the importance of adhering to Quranic teachings and the Sunnah in combating corruption.

NAB reaffirmed its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and announced plans for additional awareness campaigns at the University of Peshawar to empower students as future leaders in the fight against corruption.
