Pakistan formally requests Afghanistan to extradite suspects of the Bisham attack. Both countries collaborate to combat terrorism and enhance regional security, emphasizing peace and stability in the region.

In the aftermath of the tragic suicide bombing at the Dasu dam project on March 26, 2024, Pakistan has formally requested Afghanistan to extradite the individuals responsible for the attack. The incident resulted in the deaths of five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver, prompting a delegation from Pakistan, led by Secretary Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha, to engage in discussions with Afghan interim deputy foreign minister Mawlawi Muhammad Nabi Omari in Kabul.

The purpose of the meeting was to seek Afghanistan's assistance in addressing the terrorist attack in Bisham, which Pakistan has attributed to the Afghanistan-based TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan). The Pakistani delegation presented the findings of the investigation into the Bisham attack to the Afghan authorities and urged their cooperation in apprehending the perpetrators.

Afghanistan affirmed its commitment to preventing its territory from being used for terrorist activities against neighboring countries, including Pakistan. Both parties agreed to collaborate in combating terrorism in the region and addressing the concerns raised by Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Afghan Ministry of Interior spokesperson welcomed the Pakistani delegation and emphasized the importance of regional security. Afghan authorities expressed their willingness to assist in the security sector and highlighted their dedication to promoting peace in the region. They condemned the Bisham terrorist attack as a tragic incident and stressed the need for collective responsibility in ensuring regional security.

The visit by the Pakistani delegation follows statements by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, linking the banned TTP leadership to Afghanistan and alleging the involvement of hostile foreign intelligence agencies in the March 26 attack on Chinese engineers in Bisham. Naqvi disclosed that the attack was orchestrated from Afghanistan with the specific intent of targeting Chinese engineers in Pakistan, indicating a coordinated effort by the TTP leadership and external intelligence agencies.

The collaborative efforts between Pakistan and Afghanistan to address terrorism and enhance regional security are crucial steps towards ensuring stability and peace in the region. By seeking extradition of suspects and sharing information, both countries are demonstrating their commitment to combating terrorism and fostering cooperation. The resolution of these security challenges is essential for the safety and prosperity of the people in the region.
