Recent heavy downpours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have caused widespread destruction, leading to landslides, floods, and significant damage to infrastructure. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is actively responding to the calamity, focusing on clearing blocked roads and providing assistance to affected communities.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported significant damage to roads and infrastructure in Lower Chitral, Upper Dir, Mansehra, and Upper Kohistan.

The PDMA confirmed that the inclement weather resulted in the loss of five lives and injuries to six individuals. Additionally, approximately 100 cattle perished, and numerous buildings, including 42 houses, four schools, and six other structures, were damaged across various districts, including Bajaur, Battagram, Buner, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Malakand, Mohmand, Nowshera, Orakzai, Shangla, Swat, and both Upper and Lower Dir.

Specifically, key roads such as Shishiko-Madaklasht Road, Chitral-Garamchashma Road, and Ayun-Bumborate Bobash Road in Lower Chitral were blocked due to the adverse weather conditions. In Upper Dir, roads like Chukyatan-Sheringal Road, Shalgah-Bedami Road, Thall Jandrai Road, Bandai to Buchail Road, and Sheringal-Douangdara Road were affected. Moreover, the heavy rainfall in Mansehra caused the complete destruction of the link road to Bhandhian, while the KKH faced a two-way blockage near Bodha Bridge in Upper Kohistan at RD-311.

The PDMA is actively working to assess the extent of the damage and provide assistance to the affected communities. Efforts are underway to clear the blocked roads and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
