Recent heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lead to five fatalities, eight injuries, and significant property damage. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority is actively responding to the crisis.

Recent heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have resulted in tragic consequences, as reported by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). Over the last two days, five individuals lost their lives, while eight others sustained injuries. The victims included three men, two women, and five children, along with two men and one woman who were injured. A total of 14 houses were damaged, with one being completely destroyed and 13 suffering partial damage.

The impact of the heavy rains was felt across various districts in KP, including Bajaur, Batagram, Mansehra, Buner, Dir Upper, and Lower. Despite the challenges posed by the inclement weather, all highways and link roads in the province have been reopened for traffic. PDMA, along with other relevant agencies, is actively engaged in relief efforts in the rain-affected areas.

The PDMA had issued a preemptive warning to all district administrations on April 24, urging them to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. The Emergency Operation Center established by PDMA is fully operational, and individuals are encouraged to report any emergencies or incidents by calling 1700.

The forecast indicates that intermittent rains are expected to persist until April 30, underscoring the importance of preparedness and swift response to mitigate further risks and damages. As the affected communities continue to grapple with the aftermath of the severe weather conditions, the collaborative efforts of PDMA and other stakeholders remain crucial in providing support and assistance to those in need.
