Recent heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have resulted in tragic consequences, with four individuals losing their lives, seven sustaining injuries, and 15 houses being damaged. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that among the deceased were three children, with a total of three women, three men, and a child being injured in various rain-related incidents. The affected areas, including Upper Dir, Lower Chitral, Swat, and Buner, witnessed collapses of walls and roofs, leading to significant property damage.

The PDMA has swiftly responded by distributing relief items to the affected families, dispatching 200 tents to Lower Chitral, and reopening roads closed due to landslides. KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has instructed district administrations to prioritize aid delivery and medical treatment for the injured.

Meanwhile, PDMA has issued a thunderstorm warning for several divisions in Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad. The potential heavy rains pose risks of flooding in certain areas and landslides in mountainous regions. PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia has urged the public to take precautions against lightning strikes and adverse weather conditions, especially those traveling back from Eid celebrations.

In light of these forecasts and ongoing challenges, PDMA remains vigilant and operational, with a dedicated emergency operation center reachable at helpline number 1700 for assistance. As the regions brace for further inclement weather, cooperation and preparedness are essential to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
