PEPA and DG Federal Directorate of Education Launch Environmental Campaign

In a bid to tackle the pressing issue of plastic pollution, the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (PEPA) and the DG Federal Directorate of Education have joined forces to launch a comprehensive campaign in public schools. This initiative is part of the country's commitment to observing World Environment Day 2024 and aims to completely eradicate the use of plastic within school premises while integrating environmental awareness into the education curriculum.

The campaign is not merely a short-term solution but a sustained effort to educate students on the significance of reducing plastic pollution and conserving water resources. By imparting these values to the younger generation, the authorities aspire to cultivate a future where environmental problems, particularly plastic pollution, are significantly reduced.

Central to the campaign is the establishment of plastic-free environments in schools to ensure access to safe drinking water for all. The Director Generals of FED and Pak-EPA have jointly reached out to more than 400 schools, impacting over 70,000 students and teachers with the message of curbing plastic pollution and advocating for water conservation.

This initiative is set to become a permanent fixture in all schools, with the aim of raising awareness among students about environmental protection and the critical need for climate action. By educating the youth on these vital issues, Pakistan is striving to nurture a generation actively involved in safeguarding the environment for sustainable future.
