The Federal Directorate of Education in Islamabad introduces a groundbreaking initiative to provide female-specific transport services using repurposed buses, addressing financial challenges for rural girls and female teachers.

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) in Islamabad has recently unveiled a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing the financial challenges faced by rural girls and female teachers. This initiative involves repurposing buses to provide female-specific transport services within the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

An extensive audit conducted by the FDE over the past three months highlighted significant concerns regarding the condition and functionality of more than 385 buses utilized for school transportation in the ICT. This revelation underscores the urgent need for innovative solutions to improve access to education for girls and female educators in the region.

The decision to allocate buses exclusively for female use is a strategic step towards promoting gender equality and enhancing educational opportunities for women in rural areas. By repurposing existing resources, the FDE aims to alleviate the financial burden on rural girls and female teachers, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.
