The Punjab government has taken proactive measures to safeguard the well-being of students amidst the sweltering heatwave. Starting from May 21 to May 31, both public and private colleges in the province will adhere to adjusted schedules. This decision, as communicated by the Higher Education Department, aims to shield students from the harsh weather conditions prevailing in the region.

Moreover, in response to the scorching temperatures, a seven-day holiday has been declared for all schools in Punjab from May 25 to 31. The Education Minister of Punjab emphasized the importance of prioritizing student health and safety during this period. While public and private schools will remain closed, exceptions may be made for private schools conducting exams, provided that necessary precautions are in place.

Looking ahead, summer vacations for schools in Punjab are set to commence from June 1 to August 14. To mitigate the impact of the extreme heat, revised school timings have been introduced. Schools will now operate from 7am to 11:30am from Monday to Thursday, and from 7am to 10:30am on Fridays.

These timely interventions by the Punjab government reflect a proactive approach towards ensuring the welfare of students in the face of challenging weather conditions. By adjusting schedules and granting holidays, authorities are demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding the health and academic pursuits of the younger population.
