Punjab Government to Provide 20,000 Motorbikes to Students

The Punjab government, under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is set to provide 20,000 motorbikes to students across the province as part of the Chief Minister's Youth Initiatives. Interested students can apply for motorbikes by April 29 to have their own ride. The aim is to address the transportation issues faced by students, with more than 100,000 students already showing interest in the scheme.

Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan highlighted the government's commitment to making the motorbike scheme a success, similar to the laptop scheme. The initiative aims to empower students by providing them with convenient and affordable transportation options.

During a road show at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Minister Khan, along with other officials and university representatives, emphasized the importance of the scheme in enhancing students' access to education. The event included a documentary explaining the application process for the bikes.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan praised the initiative, noting its potential to alleviate transportation challenges for students. He also mentioned a separate project providing bicycles to female students, showcasing the government's efforts to support student mobility.

Minister Khan announced plans for a second phase of the scheme, which will include an increase in the number of E-bikes available to students. Additionally, a 50 percent quota has been reserved for girls in Faisalabad, with efforts to establish charging stations for E-bikes at universities.

In conclusion, the government's focus on enhancing student mobility through interest-free bikes reflects a commitment to supporting educational pursuits and ensuring students can concentrate on their studies without transportation barriers.
