During the recent Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, Lahore and various cities across Punjab showcased an exemplary waste management effort. Over the first two days, a staggering 1.36 million tons of waste were efficiently disposed of by district government departments and waste management companies. This comprehensive waste management plan involved the coordinated efforts of over 50,000 workers, resulting in the smooth disposal of 86,000 tons by waste management companies and 50,000 tons by local governments.

Efforts to address public complaints were also commendable, with waste management companies resolving 21,000 complaints and local governments resolving 8,000. Such effective operations led to no waste disposal being required on the third day of Eid, showcasing the success of the plan. The central control room played a crucial role in ensuring the plan's smooth implementation.

Across Punjab, a significant number of sacrificial animals were brought to various cattle markets, with Lahore witnessing over 772,000 animals alone. The trade involved 1.2 million small animals and 612,000 large animals in the nine divisions of Punjab. Cities like Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, and Sargodha also saw substantial animal trading activities.

Market facilities for livestock and traders were optimized during Eid, with district administrations taking strict actions against any illegal sale points. The successful coordination between government departments and waste management companies ensured a clean and efficient Eid-ul-Adha celebration in Lahore and across Punjab, reflecting a commitment to environmental sustainability and public health.
