The Food and Wheat Department in Punjab is set to kick off its wheat procurement process, starting tomorrow. Farmers will have the opportunity to apply for bardana through the Bardana App, with applications open from April 13 to 17. Bardana issuance will commence on April 19, 2024, followed by wheat purchase starting on April 22.

With 393 wheat procurement centers established across Punjab, the department has completed all necessary arrangements at the district level. Farmers can expect to receive Rs3900 per maund for their wheat, along with delivery charges of Rs.30 per 100 kg. To ensure fairness, bardana acquisition eligibility is limited to farmers with up to 6 acres of land.

Verification by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Punjab Land Record Authority will be conducted, with confirmation messages sent to farmers upon completion. Bardana distribution will operate on a first-come-first-served basis, emphasizing efficiency and transparency in the process.

A dedicated control room has been established to address any complaints that may arise during the wheat procurement campaign, underscoring the department's commitment to a smooth and successful operation.

The upcoming wheat procurement initiative in Punjab reflects a concerted effort by the Food and Wheat Department to support farmers and streamline the procurement process. By leveraging technology through the Bardana App and ensuring fair practices such as first-come-first-served bardana distribution, the department aims to facilitate a seamless and efficient procurement campaign for the benefit of all stakeholders involved.
