Rashid Ahmad's Autobiography Launch Event Highlights Urbanization Challenges

The rapid urbanization of cities is causing a significant transformation of fertile agricultural lands into residential areas, leading to environmental concerns and worsening food security challenges. This issue was highlighted by Rashid Ahmad, a respected intellectual and former Managing Director of WASA, during the launch event of his autobiography 'From Village to Town' at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.

Ahmad stressed the importance of using eco-friendly materials like soil and gypsum in construction to improve insulation against extreme temperatures. He also drew attention to the critical water crisis in the country, emphasizing the need for efficient water management and electricity generation. Additionally, Ahmad called for a review of contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to address the debt circular and ensure a balanced electricity supply.
