The annual stoning ritual at Jamarat during the Hajj pilgrimage symbolizes the rejection of evil temptations and reaffirmation of faith. The innovative design of the Jamarat facility and pedestrian bridges enhance the pilgrimage experience.

Hajj pilgrims have begun the annual ritual of stoning the devil by throwing pebbles at the Jamarat, a group of three stone pillars, on the first day of Tashreeq, which aligns with the second day of Eid Al-Adha. This symbolic act follows the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad and starts with casting stones at Jamarat Al-Oula (the small pillar), then Jamarat Al-Wusta (the middle pillar), and finally Jamarat Al-Aqaba (the large pillar). The Jamarat site is thoughtfully designed with multiple pathways on different levels to assist pilgrims in moving smoothly and to ensure effective crowd management.

The Jamarat facility's innovative multilevel structure is specifically crafted to streamline the movement of pilgrims during the stoning ritual. Pedestrian bridges link the Jamarat to the Al-Mashaaer Al-Mugaddassah Metro Line and the nearby pilgrim camps in Mina, providing a safe and convenient passage for the pilgrims. The Saudi Press Agency has emphasized the strategic positioning of these bridges to enhance the overall pilgrimage experience for the participants.

The stoning of the devil at Jamarat is a significant aspect of the Hajj pilgrimage, symbolizing the rejection of evil temptations and the reaffirmation of faith. The thoughtful design of the Jamarat facility and the accessibility provided through pedestrian bridges demonstrate the commitment to ensuring a smooth and meaningful experience for all pilgrims participating in this sacred ritual.
