The Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project (SFERP) is making significant progress in rehabilitating water supply schemes in Sindh districts, focusing on safe drinking water, public health, and enhancing infrastructure for sustainable solutions.

The Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project (SFERP) is actively working on rehabilitating water supply schemes in Badin, Umerkot, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas districts. The primary goal is to equip these schemes with disinfection tools to ensure safe drinking water for residents, prioritizing public health.

Recently, a meeting chaired by Project Director Ghulam Asghar Kanasro, with World Bank consultants in attendance, assessed the progress of 17 completed water supply and four drainage schemes in these districts. These schemes will soon be handed over to the public health department for operation, with the remaining projects on track for completion by year-end.

Additionally, more than a hundred other schemes are in progress, focusing on water supply and drainage improvements. The installation of solar systems as backup support, along with repairs to pumping stations and upgrades to water reservoirs, aims to ensure continuous water supply and meet future demands.

The meeting emphasized the importance of enhancing water reservoir capacity to extend service life and cater to future needs. All pumping stations have been repaired and equipped for optimal functionality, with a focus on efficiently completing ongoing schemes to benefit the communities in these districts.

The efforts of SFERP in rehabilitating water supply schemes in Sindh districts are crucial for ensuring access to safe drinking water and improving public health. By prioritizing the completion of these projects and enhancing infrastructure, the project aims to provide sustainable solutions for the communities in need.
