Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon leads the Excise Department in Sindh to enhance enforcement measures, combat tax evasion, and drug trafficking, and promote tax compliance through various initiatives.

The Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department in Sindh, under the leadership of Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, has taken a significant step towards enhancing enforcement measures. In a recent meeting chaired by Senior Minister Memon in Karachi, it was decided to establish a Rapid Response Force within the Excise Department. This specialized force will focus on combating tax evasion and drug trafficking activities in the region.

During the meeting, Senior Minister Memon instructed Excise officials to set up checkpoints strategically to deter drug smuggling operations effectively. Additionally, the department finalized Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the auction of premium number plates. The issuance of these plates is scheduled to commence shortly after the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival.

Senior Minister Memon revealed plans for an initial auction of 7 premium number plates in each category, emphasizing stringent measures against the use of counterfeit plates. Future auction events will also involve collaboration with automobile manufacturers to ensure transparency and compliance.

To improve efficiency, the Excise Department will streamline the production of new and duplicate number plates by installing necessary machinery. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon urged department officers to work diligently towards meeting tax targets, suspending weekend leaves until objectives are achieved.

Furthermore, a public awareness campaign on tax-related matters will be launched through newspaper advertisements to educate the public about their responsibilities. The meeting, attended by key officials including Secretary Excise Saleem Rajput and DG Excise Aurangzeb Panhwar, marks a proactive approach by the Sindh government to strengthen enforcement and compliance within the Excise Department.

The initiatives undertaken by the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department in Sindh, under the guidance of Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, demonstrate a commitment to enhancing enforcement capabilities and promoting tax compliance.
