In a recent development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Sher Afzal Marwat has publicly criticized Maryam Nawaz for wearing a commando's uniform at the Elite Force passing out parade. Marwat pointed out that wearing the uniform does not automatically confer the title of a commando, as true commandoes demonstrate their bravery through actions like helicopter jumps. He suggested that Maryam Nawaz should showcase leadership qualities by actively participating in operations against dacoits in Katcha alongside the Punjab police.

Earlier, Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, attended the provincial police passing out parade as the chief guest, donning the Elite Force uniform. The event was held at the Elite Force training center on Bedian Road in Lahore. As the first female CM of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz's choice of attire sparked criticism from political opponents who questioned the legitimacy of her wearing the police uniform without proper authorization from the provincial police department.

It is crucial to highlight that according to the Police Order 2002, unauthorized use of police uniforms is deemed a punishable offense under clause 151.
