Commissioner Aamir Khattak of Rawalpindi Division initiates a comprehensive plan for cleanliness, market relocation, and price monitoring to enhance urban development and citizen welfare.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak has instructed the authorities to initiate a cleanliness and de-silting project for all nullahs in the region promptly. The aim is to complete the de-silting before the monsoon season to safeguard vulnerable areas, especially low-lying zones, from flooding during heavy rains.

During a meeting with Anjuman-e-Tajaran Rawalpindi, Commissioner Khattak commended the suggestions put forth by businessmen to enhance law and order in the city and improve the business environment. The business community, along with the administration, is urged to collaborate to ensure citizen relief.

As part of the master planning of Rawalpindi, the relocation of key markets such as the grain market, vegetable and fruit market, bus stand, truck stand, and wholesale market outside the city is planned. Additionally, the identification of locations for public washrooms in main markets is underway, with the directive for Municipal Corporation (MC) to construct facilities within its jurisdiction and traders to assist in private areas.

To address sanitation issues, markets are required to designate temporary garbage collection points, from where collected waste will be transported out of the city using large vehicles. The Commissioner also highlighted the delay in approving commercial maps submitted by businessmen, urging immediate action from MC authorities.

Furthermore, Commissioner Khattak emphasized the role of traders in monitoring price gouging and ensuring adequate supply of essential goods to regulate market prices effectively, reducing the need for magisterial intervention.
