UPPCL leads Uttar Pradesh in record power supply

Uttar Pradesh recently made headlines by successfully meeting a record-breaking peak power demand of 29,820 MW amidst soaring temperatures. The state witnessed a surge in electricity consumption, reaching nearly 643 million units, during a severe heatwave. On June 10, Uttar Pradesh surpassed other states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan by supplying 28,889 MW of electricity, securing the top position in the country.

The Power Department of Uttar Pradesh, under the leadership of Ashish Kumar Goel, the Chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), played a pivotal role in ensuring uninterrupted power supply during peak hours. With the increasing demand due to the scorching heat, UPPCL has taken proactive measures to meet the escalating electricity requirements promptly.

Despite occasional reports of localized power disruptions, scheduled power cuts have not been implemented across the state due to the robust capacity of the system. Moreover, UPPCL has streamlined the process for obtaining a power connection, significantly reducing the waiting time in different areas. Under the new guidelines, power connections will be established within three days in municipal corporation limits, seven days in Nagar Palika areas, and 15 days in rural regions, provided that the necessary infrastructure is in place.

Uttar Pradesh's remarkable achievement in meeting the peak power demand reflects the state's commitment to ensuring a reliable electricity supply, especially during challenging conditions. The proactive measures taken by UPPCL and the efficient management of power distribution have not only set a national record but also enhanced the overall electricity infrastructure in the state. With a focus on meeting the growing energy needs of its residents, Uttar Pradesh continues to lead by example in the power sector.
