Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) leads the 'Suthra Punjab' initiative, clearing waste and intensifying anti-dengue surveillance in key areas of Lahore.

Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) recently carried out a special waste clearance operation in key areas of Lahore as part of the 'Suthra Punjab' initiative led by the Punjab Chief Minister. The operation focused on areas like Allama Iqbal Town, Kareem Block, Johar Town, and Thokar Niaz Baig. Special cleaning teams were deployed at prominent locations such as G1 Market, Khokhar Chowk, Expo Centre, and Emporium Mall. Mechanical sweeping was also conducted on Main Boulevard Gulberg, Canal Road, Jail Road, and Mall Road to ensure cleanliness.

Under the leadership of LWMC's Chief Executive Officer, Babar Sahib Din, over 5000 containers spread across 9 towns were cleared during the morning shift. The company is dedicated to maintaining the city's beauty and cleanliness in line with the vision of 'Suthra Punjab'. Citizens are encouraged to dispose of garbage in LWMC's dustbins and report sanitation issues through the helpline 1139 or social media channels for quick resolution.

In parallel, the health department has intensified anti-dengue surveillance following recent rains in the district. CEO (health) Dr. Asfand Yar, along with other health officials, is closely monitoring the situation and the performance of anti-dengue teams. Teams are actively inspecting potential dengue breeding sites and conducting surveillance using chemicals. Dr. Asfand Yar personally inspected graveyards, under-construction buildings, and other hotspots, emphasizing the importance of continuous indoor and outdoor surveillance to control the spread of dengue.
