Karachi is experiencing a severe heatwave with temperatures reaching 46°C, posing health risks. The Pakistan Meteorological Department warns of no rainfall and multiple heatwaves across the country. Stay safe and hydrated during this intense heatwave period.

The city of Karachi is currently in the grip of a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 46°C in some areas. Coastal neighborhoods such as Korangi, Defence, and Clifton are expected to bear the brunt of the extreme heat. The Meteorological Department has warned that the hot weather is likely to persist for the next few days, with temperatures possibly rising even higher. The combination of high temperatures and humidity could make it feel as hot as 42°C, posing a serious health risk to residents.

As of now, the humidity level in Karachi stands at 69%, accompanied by a south-west breeze blowing at 19 km/h. Unfortunately, there is no relief in sight as the Pakistan Meteorological Department has stated that there will be no rainfall in Karachi for at least the next week, intensifying the heatwave conditions. Furthermore, the National Disaster Management Authority has issued a warning about multiple heatwaves expected to hit various cities across Pakistan in the coming month.

The initial heatwave is anticipated to impact cities in Sindh and south Punjab, with temperatures reaching 40°C. This heatwave is predicted to last for two to three days. Subsequently, a second heatwave is on the horizon, with temperatures potentially peaking at 45°C in late May or early June and lasting for four to five days. Finally, a third heatwave is forecasted to affect several cities in early June, including Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Badin, and Khairpur.

Stay safe and stay hydrated during this intense heatwave!
