The PDMA has issued a forecast for monsoon rains in Punjab, highlighting heavy rainfall expectations and a flood warning for the Chenab River. Citizens are urged to stay safe and follow guidelines during this weather alert.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a forecast predicting monsoon rains in various districts of Punjab until July 7. The alert includes heavy rainfall expectations in areas like Sialkot, Narowal, Shakargarh, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin. Moreover, regions such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree, and Galiyat are likely to experience rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

Despite the anticipated rainfall, the water levels in Punjab's major rivers, including Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej, are currently normal. However, a flood warning has been issued specifically for the Chenab River at Marala, indicating a potential risk of moderate to high flooding. The PDMA Director General has urged authorities to stay alert and advised citizens to avoid unnecessary river crossings. Furthermore, residents are reminded to maintain a safe distance from electrical infrastructure to ensure their safety.

The PDMA control room is actively monitoring the situation round the clock to ensure prompt response and coordination in case of any emergencies. It is crucial for everyone to stay informed and follow safety guidelines during this period of heightened weather activity.
