Residents in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other parts of Pakistan are facing a severe heatwave, with temperatures expected to rise significantly above normal. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning, urging people to take precautions to stay safe and cool during this challenging period.

Residents of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other parts of Pakistan are bracing for a prolonged heatwave, as temperatures are expected to soar 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal in the coming days. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning, attributing the extreme heat to a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere and the presence of continental air over the region.

The heatwave conditions are forecasted to intensify from May 23 to May 27, with Wednesday and Thursday expected to be the hottest days. Maximum temperatures in Islamabad are projected to reach between 41-43°C on Wednesday and 42-44°C on Thursday, while Rawalpindi is likely to experience temperatures ranging from 39-41°C and 40-42°C on the respective days.

Recent weather reports indicate that the twin cities have been experiencing hot and dry weather, with southern and central regions facing very hot conditions. Despite isolated rain-thunderstorm activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, temperatures remain high across the country. Mohenjo-Daro recorded the highest temperature at 49°C, emphasizing the severity of the heatwave.

As the heatwave persists, it is crucial for residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe and cool during this period. Staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and wearing light clothing are some simple yet effective ways to combat the heat. It is also advisable to limit outdoor activities and seek shelter in air-conditioned spaces when possible.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and providing regular updates to ensure the well-being of the public. By staying informed and following recommended guidelines, individuals can better cope with the challenging weather conditions and protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.

Let's all work together to stay safe and healthy during this heatwave!
