As the scorching heatwave persists in most parts of Sindh, residents are bracing themselves for temperatures soaring 06 to 08°C above normal levels on Monday and Tuesday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has highlighted the dominance of continental air across the country, coupled with a prevailing high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere until May 27. Additionally, a shallow westerly wave is impacting northern regions, indicating prolonged heatwave conditions in Sindh, especially in the southern districts.

In Karachi and coastal areas, hot and humid weather is anticipated, with the likelihood of gusty winds and dust-raising conditions in the afternoons. Maximum temperatures in Karachi are expected to reach 37-39°C on Monday and 38-40°C on Tuesday, while Hyderabad may experience even higher temperatures, ranging between 45-47°C and 46-48°C on the respective days.

Recent data reveals the intensity of the heatwave, with Mohenjo-Daro recording a scorching 53°C, followed by Jacobabad at 52°C, and Dadu at 51°C. Karachi and Hyderabad have not been spared, with maximum temperatures hitting 37°C and 44°C, respectively, accompanied by high morning humidity levels.

As Sindh battles the relentless heatwave, it is crucial for residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe and cool during these extreme weather conditions. Staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and seeking shelter in well-ventilated spaces are essential measures to combat the heat. It is advisable to keep a close eye on weather updates and adhere to any advisories issued by the authorities to ensure the well-being of individuals in the region.
