Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) takes proactive measures to address drainage challenges caused by heavy rainfall, emphasizing citizen cooperation in responsible waste disposal for a cleaner environment in Peshawar.

Following heavy rainfall in Peshawar, the Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has reported instances of overflow and pressure on the city's drainage system. The excess water has surpassed the system's capacity, leading to overflows at various locations. WSSP personnel are actively addressing these overflows by conducting cleanliness operations in the field to facilitate proper drainage. The team is closely monitoring hotspots and utilizing machinery to manage the situation effectively.

Prior to the rainfall, the drainage lines were cleaned as a preventive measure. WSSP's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Hassan Naseer, along with other officials, is overseeing the operation to ensure swift and efficient resolution of the drainage issues. The spokesperson highlighted that blockages caused by plastic bags and non-biodegradable materials are hindering the drainage flow, prompting the deployment of additional staff for timely clearance.

Citizens are urged to cooperate with the authorities by disposing of garbage and waste only at designated spots to prevent further blockages and aid in maintaining the city's drainage system.

The WSSP's proactive measures and swift response to the drainage challenges caused by heavy rainfall demonstrate their commitment to ensuring the city's sanitation and water management. By raising awareness about responsible waste disposal practices, the authorities aim to mitigate future drainage issues and foster a cleaner environment for the residents of Peshawar.
