The Drug-Free Punjab campaign, spearheaded by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has gained momentum with the Punjab police ramping up efforts to combat drug-related activities. A recent surge in operations targeting drug dealers and smugglers, particularly in Lahore, has yielded significant results.

During a recent crackdown, a total of 289 raids were conducted on drug dens in a single day, leading to the arrest of 141 suspects and the filing of 135 cases. The seized contraband included 50 kilograms of charas, 1 kilogram of heroin, half a kilogram of ice (crystal meth), and 1,563 liters of liquor.

Since the launch of anti-narcotics operations on February 26, the Punjab police have carried out an impressive 33,572 raids across the province. These efforts have resulted in the apprehension of over 16,000 suspects and the initiation of 15,693 cases. The confiscated items include 9,366 kilograms of charas, 162 kilograms of heroin, 269 kilograms of opium, over 45 kilograms of ice, and more than 1,677,000 liters of liquor.

With a directive from the Inspector General of Punjab, supervisory officers are now focusing on intensifying anti-drug operations, particularly targeting drug infiltration in educational institutions. Special measures are being implemented to combat online drug trafficking, and stringent actions are being taken against those involved in inter-provincial smuggling.

The relentless efforts of the Punjab police in cracking down on drug trafficking are commendable. The ongoing operations are crucial in safeguarding the youth and communities from the harmful effects of narcotics. By targeting drug dealers and smugglers, the authorities are sending a strong message that drug abuse will not be tolerated in Punjab. Such initiatives are vital in creating a safer and drug-free environment for all residents of the province.
