Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated Besakhi festival at Kartarpur Sharif, announcing initiatives for special individuals and discussing welfare measures during her visit.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently visited Zero Line Kartarpur Sharif in Kheti Sahib to officially inaugurate the 'Besakhi' festival by harvesting wheat with a golden sickle. During her visit, she also toured Pak Darshan Deodhi, where she was warmly welcomed by Sikh pilgrims. The Sikh community expressed their appreciation for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's initiatives and arrangements, with the Indian Sikh Jatha leader praising her efforts and hospitality.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif engaged in various activities during her visit, including visiting the Sarovar (Holy Pond), Samadhi (Prayer Hall), Guru Ghar, and interacting with the Sangat. She was also briefed about the Facilitation Center and received gifts such as a shawl and a Kirpan from Sikh leaders.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced several initiatives to support special individuals, including the issuance of 'Himmat Card' and 'Nigehban Card', as well as launching a loan scheme for persons with disabilities. She emphasized the importance of financial independence for special persons and directed the provision of wheelchairs and assistive devices to disabled individuals.

In a special meeting, the Chief Minister discussed various welfare measures, including the establishment of Women Protection Authority Task Force, VAWC centers for preventing violence against women, and drug rehabilitation centers in each division. She also reviewed proposals for Skills Development Centers and the digitization of the Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Department.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's visit to Kartarpur Sharif not only marked the inauguration of the Besakhi festival but also highlighted her commitment to supporting special individuals and promoting social welfare initiatives in Punjab.
