The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, launches 'Reject Plastic' campaign to combat health risks of plastic, enforcing bans and promoting eco-friendly alternatives.

The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is set to kick off a significant initiative called 'Reject Plastic' starting on June 5. This campaign aims to address the health hazards linked with the use of plastic. The government has made all necessary preparations to ensure strict enforcement of laws against the production, distribution, and sale of illegal plastic bags.

As part of this campaign, the focus will be on cracking down on factories engaged in the production of unauthorized plastic items. These factories have been previously warned about their activities, and now stringent actions will be taken against them. Eateries and hospitality establishments that continue to use plastic bags beyond the specified deadline will also face strict measures.

In an effort to combat the negative health impacts of plastic, the government has imposed a ban on polythene bags thinner than 75 microns and single-use plastic containers. Additionally, an awareness campaign named 'Plastic is Death' will be launched to educate the public about the dangers of plastic consumption.

To encourage the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives, the campaign will promote the use, production, and sale of cotton bags and other substitutes for plastic carriers. Public service announcements will be spread through social media platforms, and informative notices regarding the plastic ban will be prominently displayed in various public spaces.

The 'Reject Plastic' campaign initiated by the Punjab government, spearheaded by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, marks a crucial step towards addressing the health risks associated with plastic usage. By implementing strict measures against illegal plastic production and promoting eco-friendly alternatives, the government aims to create a cleaner and healthier environment for all citizens.
