Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Asif Hyder Shah, recently spearheaded a crucial meeting to strategize for an anticipated heat wave set to affect the province from May 21 to 27. The gathering, attended by top officials including Secretary Energy, Secretary Rehabilitation, Commissioner Karachi, and DG PDMA, focused on proactive measures to mitigate the impact of the impending heat wave.

During the meeting, DG PDMA briefed the attendees on the alert issued to relevant organizations, emphasizing the importance of preparedness. Discussions centered on preventive actions and plans devised by commissioners to minimize the risks associated with heat strokes.

Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah underscored the government's heightened state of readiness compared to the tragic events of the 2015 heat wave. He emphasized the necessity of an extensive awareness campaign to educate the public on heat wave prevention and safety protocols.

Key directives included the establishment of heat wave prevention centers in all hospitals, ensuring the availability of drinking water in markets, and setting up sun protection sheds in high-traffic areas. Rescue 1122 services were put on high alert for swift emergency responses.

The Secretary Energy was assigned the task of ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the heat wave period. Deputy commissioners were mandated to establish heat stroke centers at public locations for immediate medical assistance.

Media outlets were urged to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign across various platforms to disseminate vital information on heat wave prevention and treatment. Chief Secretary stressed the collective responsibility of all departments and organizations in safeguarding citizens' health during this challenging period.
