In a recent development, Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Asif Hyder Shah announced that significant progress has been made in activating Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in the province. Over the past three weeks, 138 RO plants have been brought back online, with plans to activate an additional 200 by June. These efforts are part of the implementation of recommendations put forth by the Water Commission, aimed at addressing water scarcity issues in Sindh.

While updating the media on the status of the water commission's recommendations, Chief Secretary Shah highlighted that about 60% of the recommendations have been implemented so far. However, challenges such as resource shortages have led to delays in some projects. Despite financial constraints, the government is committed to providing progress reports to the court every three months.

Chief Secretary Shah emphasized the importance of planning for climatic changes, noting the impact of unusual rains on the region's water infrastructure. He stressed the need for institutions to effectively manage unexpected situations, especially in light of evolving climatic patterns.

With several irrigation schemes requiring substantial funding, Chief Secretary Shah acknowledged the need for strategic allocation of resources to ensure the successful implementation of water management projects in Sindh.

The proactive measures taken by the Sindh government, under the guidance of Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah, demonstrate a commitment to improving water infrastructure and addressing water scarcity challenges in the region. By prioritizing the activation of RO plants and implementing the recommendations of the Water Commission, Sindh aims to enhance its water management capabilities and adapt to changing climatic conditions.
