Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman has set a strict deadline of three months for all departments, commissioners, and deputy commissioners to complete tasks aimed at enhancing governance and service delivery through Information Technology (IT) in the province. This directive was issued during a meeting at the Civil Secretariat where administrative secretaries, directors general, divisional commissioners, and deputy commissioners participated either in person or via video link.

During the meeting, Chief Secretary Zaman emphasized the importance of utilizing IT to streamline public service delivery, making services easily accessible online to save citizens from unnecessary visits to government offices. He highlighted the successful implementation of E-Filing and Office Automation System (E-FOAS) and e-procurement regime, which have introduced transparency and efficiency in departmental operations.

Zaman stressed that transitioning to a paperless working environment through technology adoption would not only save significant costs but also aid in curbing corruption within departments. He urged all officers to diligently address public grievances and expedite the resolution of pending pension cases and departmental inquiries.

The meeting concluded with a tribute to the late former chief secretary Javed Mehmood, with Chief Secretary Zaman acknowledging Mehmood's dedication and hard work, stating that his contributions would be remembered for years to come.
