Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti takes decisive steps to tackle Quetta's water shortage crisis by expediting the Mangi Dam project and transitioning to solar power for sustainable solutions.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has taken urgent action to address the critical issue of clean drinking water shortage in Quetta, the provincial capital. An emergency meeting was convened by the CM, where officials from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department provided updates on the progress of the Mangi Dam project aimed at alleviating the water scarcity in the city.

During the meeting, it was revealed that Quetta faces a daily shortfall of 2.4 million gallons of water, significantly impacting the residents. The completion of the Mangi Dam is expected to address this challenge by supplying 8.1 million gallons of water daily to Quetta and its surrounding areas. To ensure the security of the dam project, the services of Frontier Corps (FC) have been enlisted.

Expressing his dismay over the project's delays, CM Bugti instructed all relevant departments to expedite the construction work to meet the project deadlines. Additionally, he emphasized the need to transition the electricity supply to solar power and reduce reliance on QESCO for power procurement. To further this initiative, a committee led by the Provincial Minister of PHE has been tasked with developing proposals for the installation of a solar system at the Mangi Dam project.

In conclusion, the proactive measures taken by Chief Minister Bugti underscore the government's commitment to resolving the water crisis in Quetta and ensuring sustainable solutions for the future.
