Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approves 'Light without Electricity Bill' program providing one-kilowatt solar systems to 50,000 households, emphasizing quality and sustainability.

The Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has given the green light to provide one-kilowatt solar systems to 50,000 households in Punjab as part of the 'Light without Electricity Bill, Chief Minister’s Roshan Punjab Programme.' This initiative, aimed at alleviating the burden of expensive electricity on the poor, was discussed during a special meeting in Lahore.

During the meeting, CM Maryam was briefed on the technical aspects of the solar systems designed for domestic consumers. The program will kick off with a pilot project to assess its effectiveness, with eligible consumers in the first phase being those who consume up to 100 units of electricity.

The one-kilowatt system will include two solar panels, a battery, an inverter, and necessary wiring to power fans, lights, and small motors for up to 16 hours using a lithium-ion battery. Emphasizing the importance of using top-quality components, CM Maryam stressed the need for the latest technology in the installation of these solar systems.

The scope of the program will gradually expand to benefit more domestic consumers. The meeting was attended by senior officials including Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, and other relevant officers.

In conclusion, the approval of this initiative marks a significant step towards providing sustainable and affordable energy solutions to households in Punjab, ultimately contributing to the welfare of the community and the environment.
