The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Prisons Punjab initiates healthcare program in jails to provide medical attention and support for inmates' rehabilitation and well-being.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Prisons Punjab has emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive healthcare services to inmates as part of their rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society. In line with this vision, eye and dental camps are set to be established in all 41 jails across the province. These camps aim to offer medical examinations and treatments to a total of 60,288 prisoners, with a primary focus on addressing the often overlooked vision and dental health needs of the inmates.

The initiative will see the deployment of medical staff and necessary equipment to conduct thorough check-ups, prescribe corrective lenses, address dental issues such as cavities and gum diseases, and deliver other essential healthcare services. The goal is to ensure that prisoners receive the proper medical attention and care they require.

Overseeing the implementation of the IGP's directives is DIG Lahore Region, who is conducting regular visits to all jails. The Senior Superintendent of Central Jail Kot Lakhpat Lahore and Camp Jail Lahore Superintendent have confirmed that the dental camps will kick off operations in collaboration with the Health Department starting from Monday.

The establishment of eye and dental camps in Punjab's jails marks a significant step towards prioritizing the healthcare needs of inmates. By providing access to essential medical services, the authorities are not only addressing immediate health concerns but also contributing to the overall well-being and rehabilitation of prisoners. This initiative underscores the commitment to ensuring that every individual, including those within the prison system, receives adequate healthcare support for a better future.
